“Bubble have been a consistently great power pop band since they started in the mid-90s. we had the honor of sharing the Mercury Lounge stage sometime towards the end of that decade, long may they run!” -Matthew Caws (Nada Surf)

"I have been the dumbfounded and happily amazed recipient of Dave Foster's genius songwriting alchemy for 40 years and his time with the exceptional combo "Bubble" only serves to cement him and the rest of the band as the multi faceted torch bearers of the most delicious kind of intelligent hook laden pop that my ears have ever had the privilege of receiving!!" -Chris Ballew, The Presidents Of The United States Of America, Caspar Babypants

“With Dave Foster’s classic pop songwriting made airborne by his fab bandmates, today’s Bubble remains bursting with the same joy they brought to the Lower East Side back in the day.”-David Poe

“In the days before the widespread connectivity of the Internet, pop afficionados like myself had to rely on happenstance and word-of-mouth to discover melodic and kindred groups like Bubble. I remember being superimpressed with their ear for hooks, but the icing on the cake was when I heard their splendid cover of Anthony Newley & Leslie Bricusse’s “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. It was such a great pull out. I knew then that they would be true friends of mine.” - Paul Myers, host of The Record Store Day podcast

“One of the best New York bands 30 years ago. Today,  Bubble rocks on!!”
-Fred Smith (Television)

“Music is an anomaly. It’s a time machine, but it also exists outside of time… and even though all of these songs are older than my oldest born son, who turns 21 one in April, (the same month Bubble officially turns 30), they sound as fresh and alive as when they were written and recorded.” —Dave Foster, Bubble.

March 20, 2024, New York, NY: Bubble, longstanding, much-loved NYC indie pop band, celebrates their 30th Anniversary with a sure to be packed out night at LES haunt, Mercury Lounge on Tuesday, April 30th. The show will coincide with the release of a career-spanning live album of their songs recorded since the early nineties on Irene Trudel’s influential WFMU radio show.

Says Bubble main man singer/songwriter/guitarist, Dave Foster of the anniversary , “It doesn’t even quite feel real… THIRTY YEARS of BUBBLE. As I listen down to the amazing live recordings of the band playing on Irene Trudel’s WFMU shows, it doesn’t feel like three decades.”

Formed in 1994 as Bubble, Foster with Tom DeVito and Russ Alderson, the band’s seminal lineup, found its origin from the legendary anti-folk movement that spawned the careers of such notables as Beck, Adam Green, Regina Spektor and Moldy Peaches, among others.

The band released their eponymous EP in 1995 to critical praise (compared to Oasis and Blur as well as Weezer and friends The Presidents of the United States of America) and decent college airplay, which included some of the aforementioned live appearances on WFMU.

By the time Bubble’s debut full-length Bash Bish, produced by Fred Smith of Television, was released in 2000, the band saw growth with Foster and Alderson now adding Matt Lindsey on bass, Rich Feridun on guitar and Jon Spurney on keys and guitar. The album prompted critical praise and college radio followed.

Foster then took a break to focus on being a parent and to finish his debut solo album, Blue Circle, released in 2007, but as a band, Bubble set about the daunting task of undertaking letter-perfect performances of full Beatles albums for families in NYC.

Foster reemerged with original material in 2009 and Bubble released a sophomore long player, Seconds, which also garnered a warm welcome from the press and love from college radio. Over the next decade, the lineup shifted to add Rembert Block on vocals and accordion, Charly Roth on keyboards and Mike Fornatale on guitar.

In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Bubble released their 3rd full length album Other Broken Dreams, which was finally celebrated with a packed out release party in July 2021 at NYC’s Cutting Room.

The April 30th anniversary date at the Mercury Lounge, which also sees Tom Clark & the High Action Boys sharing the bill, will no doubt prove to be another hootenanny of the first order, summoning  most of the aforementioned members to the stage for a trip down 30 years worth of Memory Lane.

Says Foster, “It’s almost 30 years to the day, to play old songs, new songs and make new musical magic with Tommy and Russ, as well as Rembert, Mike and Charly. I hope we can keep doing this for as many more decades as possible. We’ll see how far this musical Time Machine will take us!”
